During and after the 2022 flood disaster local non-government agencies experienced and reported challenges working with government agencies.
The NSW Council of Social Service (NCOSS) and the Northern Rivers Flood Working Group approached the Department of Social Work at Southern Cross University to conduct a study that would examine the following question: How can the coordination between government and non-government agencies be improved to more effectively respond to disasters including disaster planning, response, and recovery rollout?’
The report gives voice to the experiences and needs of community service organisations in the Northern Rivers in relation to disaster management.
